FThis year I felt the need to give even more volume and depth to the creation of the mosaics. I started experimenting with a new technique, which I had already used for making deer antlers. Using expanded polyurethane and “working” this material I create a support that allows me to develop mosaics on multi-level surfaces.
The work is complicated, it becomes detailed at every step. The cutting of the tiles, which are all applied with the help of pliers, changes because the installation must then be rendered in a three-dimensional manner. I will never get tired of experimenting with new ways of creating. It’s like a challenge to myself, I put myself to the test, a continuous evolution of my style, it’s lifeblood. I am truly thrilled with the result and every time I try to push myself beyond my limits like in this latest mosaic!
The mosaic was made using a direct technique on a wooden door.
Materials: Mixed Venetian smalti, artistic ceramics, brass wire.
