Crafted on an old, irregularly shaped piece of wood, this mosaic depicts a small red fish brought to life through Venetian smalti, artistic ceramics and hand-cut glass. Its fins and tail, shaped with delicate reclaimed electrical wires, trace a fluid line that seems to move through space, as if the fish were swimming in an imagined current. The contrast between the tactile warmth of the wood and the shimmering brightness of the tesserae creates a lively and spontaneous dialogue that makes the piece vibrant and unique.
Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
Materials: Mixed Venetian smalti, artistic glass, artistic ceramics, recycled material.
