On this old door, where the faded brick meets the worn wood, I created a large school of fish that, to me, flows like a silent wave. The blues of the Venetian enamels and the touches of white gold catch the light just as I imagine the sea would. And every time I look at it, I smile when I find that one fish swimming against the current, almost hidden. It’s the detail I relate to the most: a reminder that beauty often rises from the courage to follow one’s own course.

Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.

Materials: Venetian light blue and white antique gold (24k gold leaf), mixed Venetian smalti, crystal, copper, murrine of Murano, recycled materials.
