On an old doorway, where faded brick meets wood weathered by time, I have created a large school of fish, conceived as a silent wave flowing through the material.
The blues of Venetian smalti intertwine with the luminous reflections of Venetian white gold, capturing the light and evoking that profound vibration which, to me, belongs to the sea.
And then there is one fish swimming against the current, almost concealed among the others. Every time I discover it again, I smile. It is the detail in which I recognise myself most deeply, a discreet presence that holds the most intimate meaning of this work.
An invitation to remain true to one’s own direction, even when the world moves otherwise.
Because sometimes, the most authentic beauty emerges from the courage to follow one’s own course.
Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
