Born from a fragment of wood marked by time and the memory of a shipyard, this work transforms weathered matter into a symbol of rebirth. At its center, the phoenix emerges with its beak open, evoking change and creative force: mixed marbles, handcrafted ceramics, Venetian enamels, gold, fused glass, and shaped copper merge into a living composition in which every material preserves its own identity while becoming part of a new harmony.

The rusted saw surrounding the work becomes an initiatory circle, a tool once linked to cutting and destruction that is here transformed into protection and completion. In an esoteric sense, the phoenix represents the fire of inner transformation and the soul’s ability to pass through chaos and rise again, brighter than before, from its own ashes.

Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
