Metamorphosis: A body that evolves from a fish to a bird, transforming into a Phoenix. The saw, encircling the head with copper and gold flames licking the wood, represents an empty past, pulverized by the flames. The open beak, in vibrant blue, is ready to fill with new life.
Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
Materials: Venetian yellow antique gold (24K gold leaf), mixed venetian smalti, white italian stone of Nanto, white italian Biancone marble, white italian Travertino marble, raku ceramic, artistic ceramic, copper, molten glass, recycled material.
