On an old wooden shutter, still veiled in cream-white, I created a small sea: a mosaic school of sardines made from Venetian blue smalti, white gold, and artistic glass. I imagined the sardines swimming in the current, and the smalti catch the light, reflecting it like water dancing in the sun. In this work, I transformed the memory of the old wood into movement and light, creating a fragment of the sea suspended in time.
Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
