A beautiful blue Protea!
The Protea in the language of flowers represents courage, strength and transformation, qualities reflected in its spectacular blooms that emerge in difficult climatic conditions. The color blue is associated with tranquility and peace.
Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
Materials: Mixed Venetian smalti, molten glass, colored iron and brass wires.
The brass pins, over time, will undergo the natural oxidation process, which will give them a fascinating, unique and constantly evolving patina.
