I chose an ancient piece of wood with an irregular shape and waited for it to suggest its own direction. From this dialogue a mosaic fish was born, created with Venetian smalti in shades of blue and teal, enriched with gold accents. The large eye and the outlines of the tail are defined by reclaimed metal, elements that carry traces of time and memory. A unique artwork in which recovery becomes storytelling and matter finds a new harmony.
Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
Materials: Mixed Venetian smalti, beige Venetian gold ( 24K gold leaf), artistic glass, artistic ceramics, Biancone Italian marble, recycled material.
