I selected an aged piece of wood, preserving its white paint patina and visible traces of past workmanship as a living part of its history. On this surface, I brought to life a fish in warm shades of orange and yellow, using Venetian smalti, Venetian yellow gold, copper, and aged iron.

The fin and tail are shaped with artistic glass canes, gold toned color, and electrical cables, creating a vibrant relief that almost resembles luminous feathers. This piece brings together reclaimed materials and light, memory and transformation, where every detail tells the story of an ongoing dialogue between the past and a renewed life.

Each of my mosaics is born from an encounter with the wood: cleaned, brushed, restored, and always protected with an anti-woodworm treatment. Its grain, shapes, colors, and traces of time inspire the subject and guide the composition. The wood does not merely host the mosaic; it becomes an essential part of it, dialoguing with the artwork and completing it with its own story.
